Medical Practice Management Software Providers Compete to Offer the Best Services

Global healthcare systems have gone through a drastic transformation over the years. Although healthcare innovation and treatments have progressed globally, research has shown that technological development has slowed since the passing of the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Experts in the field have urged that relaxing restrictions would be the best way to relieve barriers to entry for innovation and help attain better health outcomes for all.

AI based digital technologies are central trends in the healthcare sector worldwide and open up opportunities to improve our healthcare.

A survey by the US business magazine Forbes asked companies around the world about the most influential digital technologies in the healthcare industry and how they can be used. The responses highlighted breakthrough technologies that are supporting surgical interventions with the help of digital glasses and augmented reality. We can see wearables appear – such as smartwatches or fitness bracelets –that support personalized health and wellness services with the help of artificial intelligence.

Digitization Offers Enormous Potential

Exciting technologies already exist in practice, for example in the early detection and control of contagious diseases. For this purpose, the Canadian company Bluedot has developed a special AI algorithm that independently collects relevant information from official health warnings, regional news in over 60 languages, forums and blogs to generate appropriate warnings. The Canadians researchers have recently been able to demonstrate how successfully this works. While the WHO publicly warned us about pneumonia with an unknown cause, Blue Dot warned users of its health platform 6 days earlier about the impending danger that is currently making headlines worldwide as a coronavirus.

Last year, a remote surgical intervention using the new 5G mobile radio standard at the “Mobile World Congress” trade fair caused a global sensation – this was the first real-time telemedicine operation worldwide. The use of 5G opens up entirely new possibilities in telemedicine, since it gives access to every operating room in real time, even in regions that are difficult to access.

Digital technologies can help us improve the quality of our healthcare. Access to medical advice and more efficient care are facilitated by physician consultation via mobile phone or laptop, regardless of time and place. This can be an interesting approach for rural regions, for example, to close gaps in supply. In everyday life, the use of digital technologies can support our health by integrating networked devices like wearables into therapy measures or tracking our health data to raise our awareness of our own health. Medical personnel also benefit from the use of AI: With the help of algorithms, diseases can be detected more precisely and earlier. The possible uses and the potential of intelligent systems in the health sector are enormous. But where are we in the area of such applications?

Over the years, entrepreneurs have emerged with their best ideas for healthcare software and application innovations. Some of the best-known are Cerner Corporation, Adviise Inc., and Phreesia. These organizations are leading the charge when it comes to healthcare technology innovation.

THE BROKEN SYSTEM

NGOs have urged all countries to adopt Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030. UHC would mandate that everyone have the opportunity to seek access to affordable preventive care and medical treatment. One way to do this is through consolidation. Hospital groups have adopted different medical platforms to facilitate this kind of consolidation.

ADVIISE INC.

Adviise emerged in 2019. It’s founder, Alexandra Alizadeh, is an entrepreneur and humanitarian, born on January 2, 1992, in Southampton, New York. Alizadeh came up with the idea as a frustrated consumer, struggling to find better care. Her experience revealed the gaps and opportunities needed to advance the US healthcare system.

Growing up during the Second Gulf War, Alizadeh was interested in government and public policy at an early age. She attended primary and secondary education from the Al Mawakeb School and International School of Choueifat. Alexandra went to Smith College in Northampton Massachusetts after her family moved back to the United States. Securing a scholarship from Bard College at Simon’s Rock, and studying year-round with classes at other institutions like the University of Chicago and Georgetown University, led her to become the youngest graduate at only 19 years old. Alizadeh’s life had been one of the achievements before suffering a stroke at age 22. The incident marked a turning point that propelled the events that ultimately led to Adviise’s founding. Alizadeh worked across sectors in regulation, media, public, and technology, gaining recognition from colleagues and mentors like Bray Cary (who is also a member of Adviise Board).

Adviise offers a range of features that helps patients find providers, from physicians and counselors to dentists and chiropractors. It is a fully integrated, online medical service platform. Patients can compare providers based on their ratings, book appointments, securely access medical records, access care through telemedicine sessions, and prepay for medical services. Adviise is based in Dallas, with offices in New York City and San Antonio.

PHREESIA

Phreesia is a nationally recognized leader, providing applications to streamline the patient check-in process seamlessly. Phreesia began in 2005 under the leadership of its current President and CEO, Chaim Indig, and COO Evan Roberts. Michael Weintraub has served as Chairman of the company since its founding.

Before launching Phreesia, Indig began as a startup employee, later transitioning to a successful venture-backed company. Indig, along with Phreesia co-founder Roberts, realized the growing need for streamlining the patient check-in process. Their startup experience gave them the knowledge necessary to build their own company. Over the years, Indig has focused on evolving their business model and company goals with the ever-evolving needs of healthcare. The platform represents a modern approach to enabling automation, with its primary focus being patient engagement. The platform also focuses on enhancing clinical services while simultaneously boosting profitability. The platform also allows medical practices to manage patient information, collect payments, and verify insurance effortlessly at the point of time.

Investing in Individualized Health Services

There are several ways in which healthcare technology companies are customizing individual experiences. Through these portals, increased patient engagement helps in attaining better health outcomes. The increased autonomy bestowed on patients and providers results in a smoother workflow, lower overhead, and less burnout.
